Your service license is revocable and limited

DeepSeek grants a revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to lawful use under the Terms. Other rights require its written permission, and not exercising a right does not waive it. The separate permission to use Inputs and Outputs, including for model training, remains subject to law and these Terms; it does not transfer the service itself.

3.1 You fully understand and agree that, under these Terms, we grant you a revocable, non-transferable, and non-exclusive right to legally use this product and related services. All other rights not expressly authorized by these Terms are reserved by DeepSeek, and before exercising such rights, you must obtain written permission from DeepSeek. Additionally, DeepSeek's failure to exercise any of these rights does not constitute a waiver of those rights. If you publish or disseminate outputs generated by the Services, you must: (1) proactively verify the authenticity and accuracy of the output content to avoid spreading false information; (2) clearly indicate that the output content is generated by artificial intelligence, to alert the public to the synthetic nature of the content; (3) avoid publishing and disseminating any output content that violates the usage specifications of these Terms.
4.2 Subject to applicable law and our Terms, you have the following rights regarding the Inputs and Outputs of the Services: (1) You retain any rights, title, and interests—if any—in the Inputs you submit; (2) We assign any rights, title, and interests—if any—in the Outputs of the Services to you. Due to the nature of our Services and artificial intelligence generally, Outputs may not be unique and other users may receive similar Outputs from our Services. Our assignment above does not extend to other users’ Outputs. (3) You may apply the Inputs and Outputs of the Services to a wide range of use cases, including personal use, academic research, derivative product development, training other models (such as model distillation), etc., as long as such usage is legal and adhere to these Terms.

Content & IP Rights · Restriction or exception

Verify and label outputs before publishing

If you publish or distribute Outputs, you must proactively verify authenticity and accuracy, clearly identify the content as AI-generated, and avoid content violating the usage rules. Outputs can be wrong and are not professional advice. You must also preserve DeepSeek’s AI labels and must not delete, alter, forge, conceal or circumvent them.

5.1 Any and all Outputs provided by this Service are generated by the foundation model and shall not constitute DeepSeek's legal declaration of intent, nor shall the Outputs represent DeepSeek's views or opinions in any event. If any Output references any third-party products or services, this does not mean that DeepSeek endorses that Output. The Outputs may contain errors or omissions and are for your reference only. You should NOT treat any Outputs as professional advice. In particular, when using this Service to consult on medical, legal, financial, and other professional issues, please note that the Output does not constitute any advice or commitment, nor does it represent opinions in any professional field. If you require related professional services, you should consult professionals and make decisions under their guidance. The Output of our Services shall not form the basis for your further actions or omissions. You are solely and independently responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on any Outputs, as well as for any consequences that follow.
5.3 To prevent confusion while reducing the potential impact of inaccurate generated information, DeepSeek has added labels within the platform to explicitly remind users that such content is AI generated. You shall not delete, alter, forge, conceal, or attempt to circumvent such labels, nor use this Service to produce or disseminate false information, infringing information, or engage in any illegal or non-compliant activities.

Content & IP Rights · Restriction or exception

Impersonation needs consent or a clear disclaimer

Content or chatbots impersonating anyone other than yourself, including celebrities and public figures, must clearly say “unofficial” or “parody” unless that person explicitly consents. This exception addresses the impersonation restriction; the other content rules still apply.

Supporting quotations

3.4 You will not use the Services to generate, express or promote content or a chatbot that:
(10) impersonates or is designed to impersonate a celebrity, public figure or a person other than yourself without clearly labelling the content or chatbot as "unofficial" or "parody", unless you have that person's explicit consent.

Content & IP Rights · Restriction or exception

Reverse engineering and service scraping are restricted

Under the network-data-theft restriction, DeepSeek lists reverse engineering, disassembly, decompilation, translation or attempts to discover source code, models, algorithms or underlying components, and capturing or copying service content through robots, spiders, other automation or mirrors. Separately, Section 4.2 permits lawful use of Inputs and Outputs for derivative products and model training, including distillation, subject to the Terms. That permission does not expressly remove these service-extraction restrictions.

Supporting quotations

3.5 You will not violate any applicable, nor interfere with, damage, or attack the Services, systems, networks, models, and other components that support the normal operation of the service. You will not engage in activities that endanger the security of the Services:
(3) Engage in activities to steal network data, such as: reverse engineering, reverse assembly, reverse compilation, translation, or attempting to discover the source code, models, algorithms, and system source code or underlying components of the software in any way; capturing, copying any content of the Services, including but not limited to using any robots, spiders, or other automatic setups, setting mirrors.

Reselling or lending the service requires authorization

Without DeepSeek’s authorization, you may not copy, transfer, lease, lend, sell or sublicense all or part of the services. Section 4.2’s permission to use Inputs and Outputs for lawful derivative products and model training is distinct from transferring the service itself and remains subject to the Terms.

Supporting quotations

3.6 You will not use the Services for the following improper purposes:
(4) Without DeepSeek's authorization, copying, transferring, leasing, lending, selling, or sub-licensing the entire or part of the Services.

(3) You may apply the Inputs and Outputs of the Services to a wide range of use cases, including personal use, academic research, derivative product development, training other models (such as model distillation), etc., as long as such usage is legal and adhere to these Terms.

Content & IP Rights · Restriction or exception

You must have rights to submit and process Inputs

You are responsible for submitted Inputs and corresponding Outputs. Submitting Inputs warrants that you have the rights, licenses and permissions needed for DeepSeek to process them under the Terms and that the submission and corresponding Outputs comply with the Terms and applicable law. Export rules also forbid you and your end users from submitting material requiring a release or export license.

Supporting quotations

4.1 You are responsible for all Inputs you submit to our Services and corresponding Outputs. By submitting Inputs to our Services, you represent and warrant that you have all rights, licenses, and permissions that are necessary for us to process the Inputs under our Terms. You also represent and warrant that your submitting Inputs to us and corresponding Outputs will not violate our Terms, or any laws or regulations applicable to those Inputs and Outputs.
You understand that your use of Services, providing Inputs to and obtaining Outputs via Services, might be subject to all applicable laws and regulations of export controls and sanctions laws (collectively "Export Control and Sanctions Laws") . You recognize that you are solely responsible for complying with all applicable Export Control and Sanctions Laws related to the access and use of the Services of you and your end user. You represent and warrant that Services may not be used in or for the benefit of, or exported, re-exported, or transferred (a) to or within any country subject to comprehensive sanctions under Export Control and Sanctions Laws; (b) to any party on any restricted party lists under any applicable Export Control and Sanctions Laws that would prohibit your use of Services. Our Services shall not be used for any end use prohibited by applicable Export Control and Sanctions Laws, and your and your end user's Inputs shall not include material or information that requires a license for release or export.

You keep Input rights and receive any Output rights DeepSeek has

Subject to law and the Terms, you retain any rights you have in your Inputs, and DeepSeek assigns any rights it has in your Outputs. “If any” means the clause does not promise that such rights exist. Outputs may be similar to other users’ Outputs, and the assignment does not cover their Outputs.

Supporting quotations

4.2 Subject to applicable law and our Terms, you have the following rights regarding the Inputs and Outputs of the Services: (1) You retain any rights, title, and interests—if any—in the Inputs you submit; (2) We assign any rights, title, and interests—if any—in the Outputs of the Services to you. Due to the nature of our Services and artificial intelligence generally, Outputs may not be unique and other users may receive similar Outputs from our Services. Inputs and Outputs can be used for other models

The Terms permit lawful uses of Inputs and Outputs including personal use, research, derivative products and training other models such as by distillation. Use must still comply with the Terms. Publishing Outputs requires accuracy checks, AI labeling and compliant content. The separate restrictions on reverse engineering, scraping service content and transferring or reselling the service remain; the reuse permission does not expressly remove them.

Cross-references

  • contrast (model-proposed): Reverse engineering and service scraping are restricted — contrast: Lawful Input/Output reuse expressly includes training other models, while reverse engineering and service scraping are restricted. The text distinguishes reuse of Inputs/Outputs from extraction of the service and does not expressly waive the latter restrictions.

Keep AI labels intact

DeepSeek says it adds AI-generated labels to reduce confusion and harm from inaccuracies. You must not delete, change, forge, hide or circumvent them, or produce or distribute false or infringing information or conduct illegal or non-compliant activities through the service.

Supporting quotations

5.3 To prevent confusion while reducing the potential impact of inaccurate generated information, DeepSeek has added labels within the platform to explicitly remind users that such content is AI generated. You shall not delete, alter, forge, conceal, or attempt to circumvent such labels, nor use this Service to produce or disseminate false information, infringing information, or engage in any illegal or non-compliant activities.

Cross-references

  • qualifies (model-proposed): Verify and label outputs before publishing — qualifies: The duty to label published AI outputs is accompanied by a prohibition on removing or circumventing the platform’s existing labels.

DeepSeek reserves service IP, with Input and Output exceptions

DeepSeek claims legally permitted rights in its service, including software, technology, code, model weights and parameters, interfaces, text, graphics and trademarks. It excludes rights held by others under law or the agreement, including Input and Output rights. Section 4.2 preserves any Input rights you hold and assigns any DeepSeek Output rights to you, without covering other users’ Outputs or promising uniqueness.

Supporting quotations

6.1 DeepSeek is the developer and operator of this service and holds all rights within the scope permitted by laws and regulations in this service (including but not limited to software, technology, programs, code, model weights and parameters, user interfaces, web pages, text, graphics, layout designs, trademarks, electronic documents, etc.), including but not limited to copyrights, trademark rights, patent rights, and other intellectual property rights. However, this excludes rights that relevant rights holders are entitled to under legal provisions or the terms of this agreement (such as Inputs and Outputs).

Brand use requires permission

You and your end users may not use DeepSeek-related trademarks, names, domains, logos, URLs or other prominent brand features without permission, whether alone or combined. The clause also bars displaying, using or applying to register related identifiers or suggesting an entitlement to deal with them, except as permitted by relevant law and licensed by DeepSeek.

Supporting quotations

6.2 Without our permission, you or your end users shall not use any trademarks, service marks, trade names, domain names, website names, company logos (LOGOs), URLs, or other prominent brand features related to the Services, including but not limited to "DeepSeek," etc., in any way, either singly or in combination. You are not allowed to display, use, or apply for registration of trademarks, domain names, etc., related to the aforementioned terms in any way, and you shall not perform acts that expressly or implicitly indicate the right to display, use, or otherwise deal with these identifiers to others except as permitted by the relevant law and licensed by DeepSeek.

DeepSeek may use feedback without paying you

By giving feedback, you agree that DeepSeek may use it without restriction or compensation. This concerns feedback, distinct from Section 4.3’s permission to use Inputs and Outputs to a minimal extent for service operation or improvement under encryption and irreversible de-identification conditions, with an opt-out through “Improve the model for everyone.” The text does not state how the two permissions interact when the same content is both feedback and an Input or Output.

Supporting quotations

If you believe that our service infringes on your intellectual property rights or other rights, or if you find any illegal, false information or behaviors that violate these Terms, or if you have any comments and suggestions about our services, you can submit them by going to the product interface, checking the avatar, and clicking the "Contact Us" button, or by providing truthful feedback to us through our publicly listed contact email as provided in Section 11. We take your opinions seriously and will take legal actions accordingly. We appreciate your feedback, and you agree that we may use it without restriction or compensation to you.
4.3 Under the premise of secure encryption technology processing, strict de-identification rendering, and irreversibility to identify specific individuals, we may, to a minimal extent, use Inputs and Outputs to provide, maintain, operate, develop or improve the Services or the underlying technologies supporting the Services. If you refuse to allow us to process the data in the manner described above, you can opt out by turning off "Improve the model for everyone".

Cross-references

  • contrast (model-proposed): You can opt out of the stated Input and Output reuse — contrast: Feedback can be used without restriction or compensation; the described Input/Output processing has de-identification conditions and an opt-out. The Terms distinguish these purposes but do not specify their interaction when the same material serves both roles.
