Paid Mail: Account Updater shares registration data; small card-check debits

For paid-for Mail Services, Yahoo may subscribe to a third-party Account Updater service that can attempt to refresh expired card numbers with replacements. By registering, you consent to Yahoo disclosing your registration information to that service, for use solely in connection with Account Updater, and to Yahoo’s receipt and use of updated card information from your financial institution. Yahoo may also verify card validity, including debiting a small amount and immediately crediting it back and asking you to confirm the amount, and says it will use this only to screen for fraud.

Supporting quotations

Yahoo may subscribe to a third party service that can attempt to refresh expired credit card or debit card numbers with the numbers of replacement cards so that your subscription does not lapse because the payment method initially on file with Yahoo has expired (“Account Updater”). By registering for paid-for Mail Services, you consent to Yahoo’s disclosure of your registration information to this third party service and to that service’s use of such information solely in connection with Account Updater. You also consent to Yahoo’s receipt and use of updated credit card or debit card account information from your financial institution in connection with the provision of the Service as provided in these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
To protect against potential fraud, we may take steps to verify the validity of the credit card information you provide to us. The verification process may include debiting a small amount from your credit card account and then immediately crediting the same amount back, as well as asking you to verify the amount debited in order to confirm that you are in possession of your credit card. We will only use this process to screen for fraud.
By finalising the check out process when you order paid-for Mail Services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
