Paying by check authorizes a one-time electronic debit, possibly the same day, and the check is not returned

When you pay by check, you authorize the issuer to use information from your check (such as routing number, account number and check serial number) to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your bank or other asset account. When it does this, your payment may be withdrawn as soon as the same day it receives your check, and you will not receive the check back from your bank or financial institution. In certain circumstances the issuer may process your payment as a check transaction.
