The tournament concludes when one (1) player has accumulated all of the chips. A player is eliminated from the tournament (“knocked out of the tournament”) when they lose all their chips.
Starting chip counts rank players knocked out in the same hand
When several players are eliminated in one hand, their chip values at the start of that hand determine finishing order and prizes: a smaller stack is treated as eliminated before a larger one. If starting stacks are equal, the prizes for the tied positions are split evenly.

Supporting quotations
In the event multiple players are knocked out of the tournament in the same hand, for purposes of determining finishing positions in the tournament and attributing any prizes, the aggregate value of chips held by such players at the start of the hand they were knocked out in will be used as a tiebreaker, with the player(s) with the smallest aggregate value of chips being deemed to have been eliminated before the player(s) with a higher aggregate value of chips.
In the event multiple players are knocked out of the tournament in the same hand and started the hand with the same chip count, any prizes associated with such finishing position(s) will be distributed evenly amongst such player(s).
Qualifications & exceptions
Equal starting chip counts lead to an even split of the prizes for the tied positions.

Leaving your entry state disconnects you
You are disconnected if you leave the state where you were physically located when entering the tournament. If you cannot rejoin and act within the action timer or time bank, you are set to auto fold while play continues. You can return through My tables while the tournament is running and you still have chips, and must take an action on your next turn to leave the Sat Out state. Remaining Sat Out does not remove eligibility for prizes based on finishing position.

In the event you leave the state you were physically located in when entering the poker tournament, you will be disconnected from the poker tournament.
In the event that a player is disconnected from the tournament, including without limitation, the player leaving the state they are physically located in when starting the tournament, DraftKings being unable to verify the player’s physical location, or the player becoming disconnected from the Internet, and the player is unable to rejoin and take their next action within the allotted time given to the player to take their next action in the tournament via the tournament’s action timer and/or time bank, such player will be set to auto fold for every required action of the player (“Sat Out”), and gameplay will continue for other active players.
A disconnected player will be Sat Out until they rejoin the game and take an action during their next turn. Players will be able to rejoin the game via the “My tables” tab, located in the lobby, and return to action in the event the tournament is still in progress and they have chips remaining.
Players who remain in a Sat Out state and are then either knocked out of the tournament or win the tournament while in a Sat Out state are eligible for any prizes based on their finishing position in the tournament.
Qualifications & exceptions
Auto folding follows failure to return and act within the allotted time.
Rejoining requires an ongoing tournament and remaining chips; finishing-position prize eligibility remains.

Qualifications & exceptions

contrast (model-proposed): Cancellation after play starts uses a prize split instead of refunds — Before the first card, cancellation refunds buy-ins; after play starts it provides prize allocation without refunding buy-ins or other costs. The different outcomes turn on when cancellation happens.
Cancellation after play starts uses a prize split instead of refunds
Once the first card has been dealt, cancellation does not refund buy-ins or other tournament costs. Already eliminated players receive any prizes for their finishing positions. Of the prize pool left after amounts already paid to winning positions, half is divided equally among players remaining at cancellation and half is allocated by their shares of tournament chips at the start of the canceled hand. The stated example gives $1,150 to a player with 65% of the chips when two players remain and the undistributed pool is $2,000.

Supporting quotations
In the event a tournament is canceled after the tournament has commenced: (i) players will not be refunded their tournament buy-in or any other costs attributed to the canceled tournament; (ii) player(s) who have been knocked out of the tournament prior to cancellation will receive any prizes associated with their finishing position in the tournament; and (iii) fifty percent (50%) of the canceled tournament’s prize pool minus any amounts already paid to winning positions (“Unattributed Prize Pool”) will be distributed equally between the remaining players in the tournament at the point of cancellation, and the other fifty percent (50%) of the Unattributed Prize Pool will be distributed on a percentage basis according to each player's chips (i.e., the aggregate value of the chips held by a player divided by the aggregate value of chips in the tournament) at the start of the hand when the tournament was canceled.
As an example only, in the event a tournament is canceled with only two (2) players left, and the tournament prize is to be awarded to 1st place only, one player had sixty-five percent (65%) of the aggregate value of tournament chips at the start of the hand when the tournament was canceled, and the Unattributed Prize Pool was two thousand dollars ($2,000), the player with sixty-five percent (65%) of the aggregate value of tournament chips would receive one thousand one hundred fifty dollars ($1,150).
Qualifications & exceptions
Eliminated players keep prizes for their finishing positions.
The remaining pool excludes prizes already paid; chip shares are measured at the start of the canceled hand.

A disconnection can put you on automatic folding
Disconnections include leaving the starting state, failed physical-location verification and loss of Internet. If you cannot rejoin and act before the action timer or time bank expires, every required action auto folds while other players continue. You can rejoin through My tables while play continues and you have chips, then act on your next turn to stop sitting out. Otherwise you remain Sat Out until elimination or the end, but remain eligible for finishing-position prizes, including a win while Sat Out.
