Linking & Identification · Company practice
Your activity and device location may be combined across your browsers and devices for advertising
MyFitnessPal and its third-party partners may use collected information to identify other devices you use, such as a phone, tablet or computer. Your online behavior on the current browser or device and the device's location may be combined with information from your other browsers or devices. Once a partner infers that a device is yours, it may use the information to deliver ads on that device, limit how often you see an ad across your devices, and measure how effective campaigns are across devices.

We and our third-party partners may use the information we collect to help us identify other devices that you use (e.g., a mobile phone, tablet, computer, etc.).
your online behavior on your current browser or device and your device’s location may be combined with information collected from your other browsers or devices
Upon making an inference that a device is in use by you, our partners may use this information to deliver an advertisement on the device, to limit the number of times you see an advertisement across your devices, and to help measure the effectiveness of our campaigns across devices.
Qualifications & exceptions
- Linking depends on an inference that a device is used by you.
- The Policy says "may", so it describes what the company and partners are allowed to do.
Not stated here
- How the cross-device inference is made or which partners do it.
Cross-references
- contrast (model-proposed): California table: geolocation means IP address, country and zip code, not precise location, and goes to advertisers — The California table says the company does not collect specific geolocation, while the cross-device description says a device's location may be combined across devices. The Policy does not explain the location precision involved.
