Stop requesting money after notice that it is unwanted or disputed

After notice from any person that a User does not want your request or disputes or disclaims the obligation, you must not make or repeat it. Wells Fargo may—but need not—end your request ability generally or for particular recipients if requests seem potentially unlawful, abusive, offensive or unwelcome.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

You will not make or repeat a request for money to a User after you have received notice from any person that either:
the User does not wish to receive a request for money from you, or
the User disputes or disclaims the obligation for which the request is made.
We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to terminate your ability to send requests for money in general, or to specific recipients, if we deem such requests to be potentially unlawful, abusive, offensive or unwelcome by the recipient.

Account & Service Control · User right or choice

You do not have to respond to a payment request

You authorize delivery of requests Wells Fargo reasonably believes are addressed to you, but have no duty to respond through Zelle or otherwise. The bank cannot control their frequency, content or purpose, makes no genuineness or accuracy warranty, does not guarantee delivery, and may be unable to block requests from particular Users or generally.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

We may offer other Users the ability to send you a request for money. You have no obligation to respond to the request, either through the Zelle® Transfer Service or otherwise. You authorize us to deliver to you all requests made by other Users that we reasonably believe are addressed to you. You understand and agree that:
We are not able to control the frequency, content, or purpose of requests that may be sent to you by other Users.
We make no representations or warranties concerning the genuineness or accuracy of any request you receive.
We do not guarantee that you will receive requests addressed to you through the Zelle® Transfer Service.
We may not be able to prevent or block requests from being sent to you, either by specific Users or generally.

Account & Service Control · Procedure

Contact details can change on your request or information from other sources

Notify Wells Fargo immediately of changes to associated email, mobile number or tag; you can instruct a change at any time. Changes may also begin after notice from a network institution or carrier, or information from a contact-correction business. Wells Fargo may rely on existing details until you notify it and act on instructions purportedly made on your behalf within a reasonable time after receipt. Its separate discretion to reject a particular identifier remains.

You may instruct us to change any email address, mobile phone number, or Zelle® tag we associate with the Zelle® Transfer Service at any time. Email address, mobile phone number, and Zelle® tag changes may be initiated:

if we receive information from another party in the business of providing correct contact information that the email address, mobile phone number, or Zelle® tag in our records no longer is associated with you.
We may continue to rely on any email address, mobile phone number, or Zelle® tag that has been provided to us until you notify us of a change. We may act on any instruction purportedly made on your behalf within a reasonable time after we receive such instruction.
We may, in our sole discretion and for any reason, decline at any time to accept or use, or to continue to accept or use, any specific email address, mobile phone number, or a Zelle® tag provided to us by any person.

Account & Service Control · Context

Account eligibility and representative authority define the parties' roles

A Deposit Account is a transaction account its institution identifies as eligible to receive transfers; a Funding Account is one identified as eligible to fund them. An Authorized Representative can have actual or apparent authority over an account or the service, including someone legally authorized on your behalf. 'You' covers each account owner or Authorized Representative subject to Section 2's conditions; these definitions alone do not establish eligibility.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

"Authorized Representative" means a person with authority (actual or apparent) to take action or make decisions with respect to a Deposit Account, Funding Account, or the Zelle® Transfer Service. This includes others you have legally authorized to act on your behalf to use or access the Zelle® Transfer Service.
"Deposit Account" means a transaction account that has been identified by the financial institution holding the account as eligible to receive funds from Transfer Transactions.
"Funding Account" means a transaction account that has been identified by the financial institution holding the account as eligible to serve as a funding account for Transfer Transactions.
"You" or "Your" means each Owner of a Deposit Account and Funding Account, or an Authorized Representative, subject to the conditions in Section 2.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • The definition of 'you' is expressly subject to Section 2.

A User can include an intended recipient who has not enrolled yet

The User definition covers enrolled individuals, businesses and government agencies through network institutions; businesses using those institutions to send money; individuals or businesses enrolled directly with Zelle to receive money; and unenrolled individuals or businesses with whom you attempt a transfer. The definition describes counterparties and does not promise every person can use every feature.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

“User” means a person who is any one or more of the following:
an individual, business or government agency enrolled in the Zelle® Transfer Service through any Network Financial Institution;
a business that uses the Zelle® Transfer Service through any Network Financial Institution to send money to another User;
an individual or business that is enrolled in the Zelle® Transfer Service directly with Zelle® to receive money at the User’s Financial Institution; or
an individual, or business that is not yet enrolled in the Zelle® Transfer Service, but with whom you attempt to initiate a Zelle® Transfer Transaction.

Account & Service Control · Restriction or exception

Using Zelle requires an eligible U.S. account and authority over it

You need an eligible U.S. Funding or Deposit Account, including the specified Wells Fargo checking, savings, Advisors Brokerage Cash Services and Private Bank checking or savings accounts. The same account can serve both roles. Receiving requires good standing; sending requires an available balance. You represent authority to authorize debits and credits. Other institutions may use different account eligibility rules.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

In order to use the Zelle® Transfer Service you must have an eligible Funding Account or Deposit Account based in the United States, which includes Wells Fargo Bank checking, savings or Wells Fargo Advisors Brokerage Cash Services accounts, and Wells Fargo The Private Bank checking and savings accounts. The Funding Account and the Deposit Account may be the same account. Account eligibility rules may differ if you are enrolling in Zelle® through a separate financial institution. In order to receive money transfers into your Deposit Account, that account must be in good standing. In order to transfer money out of your Funding Account to another individual or business, you must have an available balance in that account. You represent that you have the authority to authorize debits and credits to the enrolled Funding Account or Deposit Account.
"Deposit Account" means a transaction account that has been identified by the financial institution holding the account as eligible to receive funds from Transfer Transactions.
"Funding Account" means a transaction account that has been identified by the financial institution holding the account as eligible to serve as a funding account for Transfer Transactions.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • Receiving and sending have different account conditions.

Adult co-owners can withdraw a minor's Zelle access until age 18

Minors ages 13–17 can use Zelle in the mobile experience, subject to the adult co-owner's permission. Revocation or removal of permission unenrolls the minor's email or U.S. mobile number and cancels pending payments. At 18 the adult co-owner loses this control and the email or number can be enrolled.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

The Zelle® Transfer Service is available for minors between 13 and 17 years old within the mobile experience, but the minor cannot use the Zelle® Transfer Service feature if the adult co-owner revokes or removes permission. If the minor is enrolled in Zelle® but the adult co-owner revokes or removes permission, the minor's email address or U.S. mobile number will be unenrolled, AND if any pending payments are in progress, the payments will be canceled. When the minor reaches the age of 18, the adult co-owner will no longer be able to control the minor’s use of the Zelle® Transfer Service and their email address or U.S mobile number will be able to be enrolled.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • Available to ages 13–17 in the mobile experience; permission revocation unenrolls the identifier and cancels pending payments.

Account & Service Control · Restriction or exception

Small-business account instructions coexist with broad business-use refusal rights

The paragraph instructs small-business users to link an eligible small-business account rather than a personal one, and prohibits receiving through a commercial account. It also reserves refusal of enrollment for business-account or business-payment use and suspension or termination for business or commercial purposes. These statements appear together; the small-business instruction does not guarantee business access, and the paragraph does not explain how the broad refusal rights relate to that instruction.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

You agree that if you are using the Zelle® Transfer Service as a means to conduct small business activity, then you will link your enrolled email address, U.S. mobile phone number, or Zelle® tag, to your eligible small business Funding and Deposit account, and not to your eligible personal Funding and Deposit account. You also agree that you may not use the Zelle® Transfer Service with any commercial account with us to receive money. We reserve the right to decline your enrollment if we believe that you are enrolling to use the Service with your business account or to receive business or commercial payments. We further reserve the right to suspend or terminate your use of the Service if we believe that you are using the Service for business or commercial purposes, or for any unlawful purpose.

Not stated here

  • The paragraph does not clarify which otherwise eligible small-business uses will be accepted.

Wells Fargo can impose additional eligibility restrictions

Other eligibility requirements may apply, with non-U.S. persons given as an example of people who may be prohibited. Wells Fargo reserves sole discretion to restrict or prohibit use; the example does not itself state a universal ban on all non-U.S. persons.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

You agree that there may be other eligibility requirements that apply to participate in the Zelle® Transfer Service (e.g., non-U.S. persons may be prohibited from using the Zelle® Transfer Service), and that we have the right and sole discretion, to restrict or otherwise prohibit your use of the Zelle® Transfer Service.

New Zelle features will be described on the website

Wells Fargo may introduce features from time to time and says it will update its website to include them when it does.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

We may, from time to time, introduce new features to the Zelle® Transfer Service. When this happens, we will update our website to include them.

Account & Service Control · Restriction or exception

Enrollment requires lasting contact details and can be revoked

Enroll a regularly used email, a permanent text-enabled U.S. mobile number and/or a Zelle tag. Disposable emails, burner numbers, landlines, toll-free numbers, Google Voice and VoIP numbers are not allowed. Wells Fargo can cancel noncompliant emails or numbers without notice, block or remove identifiers that fail its criteria, and limit how many can be enrolled. An email must not mislead others about identity or payment purpose.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

You must enroll an email address that you regularly use and intend to use regularly (i.e., no disposable email addresses), a permanent, text message-enabled U.S. mobile phone number that you intend to use for an extended period of time (i.e., no "burner" numbers), and/or a Zelle® tag. You may not enroll in the Zelle® Transfer Service with a landline phone number, toll-free number, Google Voice number, or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). We reserve the right to cancel any enrolled email addresses or mobile phone numbers that do not meet the requirements of this Section 3 at any time without prior notice.
We may block enrollment, or later unenroll, any email address, U.S. mobile number, or Zelle® tag, if at any time we determine that it does not meet our criteria for Zelle® usage. For example, we may limit the number of email addresses, mobile phone numbers, and/or Zelle® tags that you can enroll in the Zelle® Transfer Service for an account. You may not enroll an email address that misleads or deceives other Users of the Zelle® Transfer Service as to your identity or the purpose of payments sent to you.

Account & Service Control · Company practice

Eighteen months without payments can trigger an ownership check

After 18 consecutive months without sending or receiving money, Wells Fargo may contact you or otherwise check that your enrolled identifier still belongs to you. If it cannot confirm ownership or learns you no longer own the phone number or email, it may unenroll the identifier. You then cannot send or receive until enrolling again; inactivity alone is described as a trigger for checking, not automatic closure.

Details not recorded for this card

Supporting quotations

If at any time while you are enrolled, you do not send or receive money using the Zelle® Transfer Service for a period of 18 consecutive months, we may contact you and/or take other steps to confirm that the U.S. mobile phone number, email address, or Zelle® tag that you enrolled still belongs to you. If we are unable to confirm that you are the owner of the mobile phone number, email address, or Zelle® tag, or we receive information that you are not the owner of the mobile number or email address, then you understand that we may unenroll your U.S. mobile phone number, email address, or Zelle® tag, and you will not be able to send or receive money with the Zelle® Transfer Service until you enroll again.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • Unenrollment follows inability to confirm ownership or information that the identifier no longer belongs to you, rather than inactivity alone.

Account & Service Control · Procedure

Tell Wells Fargo immediately when an enrolled email or mobile number changes

You must immediately notify Wells Fargo if you surrender or change an enrolled email or mobile number, including one used to contact you for a Zelle tag.
