HEALTH RECORDS YOU IMPORT
- Importing health records: you choose the source, what to import and when to disconnect Data Access & Collection
Oura lets you bring your own health records into the Oura Services. When you choose to connect a healthcare provider, a health plan, or another source of your health information to Oura, you are directing that organization to share your electronic health records with Oura. You are in control of this connection: you choose which source of records to connect, what to import, and when to disconnect. Depending on the source you connect, records may include visit summaries, clinical notes, diagnoses, medications, allergies, immunizations, lab results, vital signs, and care plans. You can disconnect any source at any time from the settings menus available on our Services. Disconnecting stops new records from flowing to Oura. You can access, delete, or download your imported records as described in sections of this Policy covering data subject rights.
- Importing health records: you choose the source, what to import and when to disconnect Data Access & Collection
Imported health records differ from data we collect from Oura Ring. Data collected by your Oura Ring is generated by sensors you wear. Imported health records instead come from a third party source that you direct to share records with us. Once those records reach Oura, we act as the controller of that data, and this Policy governs our processing. When you authorize or direct an entity regulated by the Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) to disclose your health records to Oura, the disclosure is at your request, not the entity’s. Oura is not a Business Associate of that entity for purposes of this sharing.
- Imported health records: Oura is controller and the Policy governs; disclosure is at your request Legal Rights & Agreement Rules

Before enrolling in a study, you will be required to review and sign an informed consent form (“ICF”) provided by the Research Sponsor. The ICF describes the purpose of the study, the categories of data that will be collected (including sensor and derived data, where applicable), how that data will be used and disclosed, the legal basis for processing (where applicable), the duration of the study, and your rights in relation to research data collected as part of the study.

Oura may act as a processor or service provider to the Research Sponsor in connection with the hosting, storage, or technical administration of the Oura Research App, unless otherwise described in the applicable ICF. Questions regarding the study protocol, use of research data, or the exercise of data protection rights relating to research data should be directed to the Research Sponsor as identified in the ICF.
Research studies may involve data blinding or other protocol-based restrictions. During a blinded period, you may not be able to access certain personal data, scores, or insights in the Oura Research App, even though your Oura Ring continues to collect sensor data. These limitations are implemented in accordance with the applicable study protocol and at the direction of the Research Sponsor. The ICF will describe whether and when access to such data will be restored, and any conditions that apply.
- Research App: blinded studies can limit your access to your own data Use & Processing
To the extent there is a conflict between this Privacy Policy and the ICF with respect to research data collected in connection with a study, the terms of the ICF and study protocol will govern that research data processing.
