Information submitted by each side reaches the other: contact details to providers, counternotice copies to complainants

Two steps move filer information across parties. When the company forwards a claim it does so "along with your contact information, for their resolution", so the channel and/or content provider receives whatever contact details the notice required. And after a counternotice, "we will provide the complainant with a copy of your counternotice", while the counternotice itself must contain "Your name and telephone number". A person using either route should expect the other side to receive the identifying details that route collects.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • Forwarding with contact information occurs only under the second of the three listed responses to a proper notice.
  • The copy of the counternotice goes to "the complainant" who submitted the original notice.
  • The counternotice route itself requires "Your name and telephone number", so both are in the copy sent.

Not stated here

  • The forwarding text says "your contact information" without listing the fields, so whether the address and e-mail required in a notice are forwarded is not specified.
