Relevant Ads uses which apps you use, bought age or gender data and your ad ID to profile interests for ads

Under the Relevant Ads program, T-Mobile collects data about which apps you use and how often, may combine it with data you provide or data it buys (such as your age or gender), and collects your mobile advertising ID (MAID). It uses this to build models and inferences about your interests (for example, sports lover or food enthusiast), to measure things like advertising campaigns, and to create audiences by grouping, modeling or scoring by interests. T-Mobile and its advertising partners serve you ads about other companies tailored to your interests, delivered using your MAID. You can change your preferences in the Privacy Dashboard.

You can opt out of certain future profiling, including for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects

You can tell T-Mobile not to use your personal data for certain kinds of "profiling" that it might do in the future, by opting out in the Privacy Dashboard. Profiling, as T-Mobile describes it, generally refers to automated processing of personal data to evaluate, analyze or predict aspects such as your performance at work, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behavior, location or movements. You can opt out of having profiling used for future decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Qualifications & exceptions

  • The opt-out covers "certain kinds" of profiling and future decisions; the interest modeling in the advertising programs has its own choices.
  • Like every listed choice, this may not apply in every circumstance: T-Mobile says it may limit or deny a request where the law allows or requires it, or if it cannot verify who you are.

Not stated here

  • The notice does not say whether T-Mobile currently uses profiling for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Inference & Profiling · Company commitment

Device and network data, including places, numbers contacted and sites visited, is not used for health inferences

In the consumer health section, T-Mobile notes that it collects data when you use a device on its network, including where you are, phone numbers called or texted, IP addresses, websites and URLs visited, and when you install or use mobile apps on T-Mobile devices. It says it does not use this data to create consumer health data inferences about you.
